WHAT IS SPIRITUAL DIRECTION AND HOW COULD IT HELP YOU?
Spiritual direction is about helping you cultivate and deepen your relationship with God. It involves a confidential, prayerful space where you can consider and talk about your ongoing experience as a Christian. My role is to listen deeply, discerning, exploring, supporting and encouraging you in your personal journey of faith.
And it’s not just about prayer; it's about the whole of life and how it is shaped by your understanding and experience of God’s work within you. The conversation starts wherever you are in your journey.
Since very early on in the development of Christianity, people have realised their need to relate to someone who will walk the road of faith with them. Sometimes today you’ll see it called ‘spiritual accompaniment’ or ‘spiritual companionship’ because it definitely isn’t about being directed! Rather, a spiritual director is a listener, a facilitator and an encourager.
Meetings generally last around one hour, and would usually happen every 6– 10 weeks, depending on your preferences and needs. They are available anywhere via Zoom or Skype, but if you live within a reasonable distance of south Hampshire, face-to-face meetings are perfectly possible too.
WHY HAVE A SPIRITUAL DIRECTOR?
People make use of this ministry for many reasons.
There may be a specific event or circumstance you are working through in your life
You may have questions which you feel the need to share with someone who can be objective
You may simply feel you want to deepen your relationship and experience of God in an authentic way
Whatever your own reasons, I believe that spiritual direction can help deepen and strengthen your rootedness in the love of God, giving you hope and encouragement for the journey.

It’s important, before embarking on what could be a long-term partnership, that you feel comfortable with me and I with you. So our first session would explore what you are looking for and how we might best travel together – all without obligation.
To begin with, please complete the form below. Please note that I do not have a set charge for spiritual direction – if you wish to pay, I suggest an amount equal to an hour’s worth of your own pay or income, however you choose to calculate it - or any other amount you feel able to offer. But this is entirely voluntary.
